Leadership is a process of social influence, which maximizes the efforts of others, towards the achievement of a goal. – Kevin Kruse

What did you want to be when you grew up? An astronaut? A veterinarian? A sports star? A teacher? At some point however, your heart guided you toward the most meaningful work of all, working in the nonprofit sector. Just like other professions, working for a nonprofit means that you need to constantly improve your skills if you want to succeed.

The Certificate in Leadership Practice is designed for nonprofit professionals who want to become respected leaders in their field. During this leadership immersion experience you will develop a road map to maximize your potential and help you overcome hindrances to success.

Certificate in Leadership Practice

You will:

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of your own leadership style through self-assessment
  • Apply and integrate leadership concepts into a variety of real-life situations
  • Understand the link between leadership and power, motivation and trust
  • Think critically about innovative leadership styles
  • Understand organization dynamics and the role leaders play at all levels
  • Become a more effective leader within your current, or future leadership positions

You will engage in four interactive sessions that help you identify and understand your own leadership style. It will challenge you to leverage your personal strengths. You will complete self-assessments and feedback instruments that include: Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® Assessment (MBTI®), DiSC Profile, Leadership Profile 360 Instrument, Thomas-Kilmann Conflict MODE Instrument, and a Personal Leadership Action Plan.

The fee is $1,200 for members and $1,850 for nonmembers, inclusive of all training materials, assessments, books, and personal development coaching.

Scholarships are available to Edyth Bush Institute member organizations.  Scholarships for the Certificate in Leadership Practice will not count toward an organization's $500 scholarship threshold. Please complete the Scholarship Application in lieu of the online registration.

Active participation is expected. The Certificate in Leadership Practice involves the completion of out-of-session reading and assignments. A Certificate will only be awarded to those who complete all of the required assignments and attend all four sessions in their entirety.
