Leadership is a process of social influence, which maximizes the efforts of others, towards the achievement of a goal. – Kevin Kruse

The Certificate in Leadership Practice is designed for nonprofit professionals who want to become respected leaders in their field. During this leadership immersion experience you will develop a road map to maximize your potential and help you overcome hindrances to success.

You will:

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of your own leadership style through self-assessment
  • Apply and integrate leadership concepts into a variety of real-life situations
  • Understand the link between leadership and power, motivation and trust
  • Think critically about innovative leadership styles
  • Understand organization dynamics and the role leaders play at all levels
  • Become a more effective leader within your current, or future leadership positions

You will engage in four interactive sessions that help you identify and understand your own leadership style. It will challenge you to leverage your personal strengths. You will complete self-assessments and feedback instruments to help you understand what type of leader you are and how you can effectively use those skills for leading teams and communicating with co-workers.

Topics included will be:

  • DiSC profile - The DiSC model provides a common language that people can use to better understand themselves and adapt their behaviors with others - within a work team, a sales relationship, a leadership position, or other relationships.
  • Thomas-Kilmann Conflict MODE Instrument -The TKI is designed to measure a person's behavior in conflict situations and then provides five modes for responding to conflict situations.
  • Emotional Intelligence 2.0 - EQ is how one understands emotions and manage behavior. This has a tremendous influence on how one relates to other people.  Emotional intelligence (EQ) is the ability to recognize and understand emotions in yourself and others, and the ability to use this awareness to manage your behavior and relationships.
  • Personal Values - this will guide learners through various steps to measure the importance they attach to three social values: achievement, affiliation and power. These values – or conscious drivers of behavior – explain the extent to which we want to achieve tasks or standards, maintain close, friendly relationships or have an impact on others. The personal values profile will describe how people rate these values at a conscious level.

The fee is $1,200 for members and $1,850 for nonmembers, inclusive of all training materials, assessments, and three leadership books.

Only $840 with scholarship! Scholarships are available to Edyth Bush Institute member organizations. Scholarships for the Certificate in Leadership Practice will not count toward an organization's $500 scholarship threshold. Please complete the Scholarship Application in lieu of the online registration.
